Monaco Day 9

Monaco
Arriving sunburnt and overwhelmed from the beautiful landscape and spacious beaches of Italy, driving into Monaco was like arriving from one movie set to another. With burnt noses, peeling backs and lust for some fresh French bread Bus 3 came and conquered Monaco.
Navigating down the steep, windy and tight French roads was no challenge for Anders the super bus driver yet finding a park in the immensely popular tourist town was.
Dwarfed by multi million dollar super yachts with missile defence systems it was a stark contrast to some of the Eastern European countries we had visited. While places like Prague had buildings in disrepair and a small sense of poor living conditions, Monaco was literally perfect. Spread out through two small harbours it was easy to get lost in the cute little alleyways that boasted the beautiful French culture. With the smell of freshly baked bread and pain au chocolat it was a nice change from the stale Italian bread.
As we arrived we split off into groups to try and fit in as much as we could in 3 and a half hours, with a group of myself, Nay, Ed and Danica we aimed t o the other side of the harbour where the famous Monte Carlo Casino stood. Walking around the harbour side was amazing as the Grand Prix was held only a few days previous, and as we walked along the race track memories of playing Grand Turismo 3 on the PlayStation quickly came to mind.  Feeling like a movie star we visited the casino made famous from the James Bond film Casino Royale. As I did up my top button and rolled down my sleeves on my shirt, I attempted to enter to play a quick round of black jack but was quickly turned away. Apparently no betting until after two o'clock. So we took some pictures next to the countless Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Rolls Royces and let ourselves get lost in the city. Navigating through the alleyways we found ourselves a little away from the tourist concentrated areas. Which is where the magic starts. Walking through the tight little streets, sitting on the footpaths eating pastries in the baking sun and finding little traditional french shops makes you feel like you have really made the most of the little time we have in each city. As we found our way back to the main street we walked up to the dukes palace. With 360 degrees views of the city, breath taking backdrops of the mountain landscape and medditerain picturesque paradise we took some pictures on top of the cannons overlooking the city before doing a little more sunbathing and heading back to the bus.
Overall a beautiful city, and we were blessed with the beautiful weather and the amazing company that we could share this experience with.
