Day six, seven and eight - Jesolo di Lido

I am sorry for not having updated the blog the last couple of days, but unfortunately Lisbeth and I have had some challenges we had to deal with.

We arrived in Lido di Jesolo sunday after 8 hours on the road and a picnic in the beautiful landscape in Austria. We had all been looking forward to Italy's delicious food and warm temperatures. It was clouded, windy and 16 degrees celsius when we arrived, and we were served schnitzel at dinner. The disappointment was hard to hide! But, some of the boys still wanted to hit the beach and prove themselves as true danish vikings!

Monday the weather was a bit better and we decided to go to Venice. Everybody was excited when we got on the boat and their wallets were thick so they could afford all the expensive souvenirs. The students had the entire day for themselves and when we met with them again they had all bought sailor hats and other things that only turists buy.

In the night I took most of the group to a karaoke bar. I have to say, while we were in Jesolo, almost all of the hotels were closed due to the poor weather, and not many turists were to be seen. However, they all gathered around the karaoke bar when the students took the microphone and stole the spotlight. They gave all the spectators a show with crazy dance moves. The singing part is a different story though, but it doesn't matter.

Tuesday was the first day off for all of us. It was spent by the beach relaxing and enjoying each others company. Some guys had to try sun oil, so they could impress the ladies with a nice tan, but they spent too much time in the sun and ended up looking like shrimps instead.

Jesolo was left early on Wednesday. The first stop on the day was made in Verona, where we saw the famous arena from the time of the roman empire. The arena is still in use, but not as a fighting ring for gladiators. Instead, it is used as an amazing stage for operas, and up to 25,000 can watch the intense theater there.
Juliet's balcony was up next, but we all agreed that it was quite a turist trap, since there was not much to see.

In the afternoon, we arrived in San Remo. It is a mountain city with a lot of narrow roads and tight corners. The bus had a hard time getting in to the parking lot at the Hotel. In fact, it took 10 minutes and it made a huge traffic jam in the middle of the city center. All the students clapped and cheered when the driver finally managed to park the bus.
